This page is meant to clarify our goals as an institution and what we intend for our community.

Offerings

At the core of Onassis ONX community is access to our midtown studio (lovingly known as the basement), a production space and community hub for intersectional artists with a focus on technologically-driven work. Resources in the studio are either first-come, first-serve or are bookable through an online platform (more information here: ‣). A portion of our budget is also dedicated to expanding our technical capabilities—so if there are resources you think are interesting or beneficial to your art practice or the broader community, please reach out to the Studio Manager.

We invite everyone to use the space to develop or demo work that leverages its unique capabilities. We have top-of-the-line consumer and professional equipment, ranging from our computers, displays, cameras, and audio equipment. Take a look at the list of for more details.

Consultations

Between us at Onassis ONX staff, we have combined decades of experience in the arts and with technology, and we love to share any knowledge we have with our community. In the future, we will have official office hours, but until then feel free to reach out to arrange meetings or with any questions to us! For our contact and for more information, look at Onassis ONX Staff

We also try to find ways to support artists for external presentations of work. Please let us know if you have any upcoming exhibitions, talks, or performances! We also have close ties with many premiere XR film festivals in the world, namely SXSW, Venice International Film Festival, CPH:DOX, and IDFA. If you are applying or planning to go to a festival with your work, reach out to our Innovation Director and we can discuss how we can support you.

Presentations

Historically, our most savvy and successful artists use the space for private and/or public presentations of their work. As the spaces within the studio are individually bookable, private showings and “studio visits” are a very productive use of the space. We ask that for public presentations, you consult us on your plans so we can facilitate with the building and help locate or potentially provide resources for the presentation, such as docents or refreshments. For that, reach out to the Program Director and the Technical Director.

Promotion

The Onassis ONX Instagram account and our newsletter are where we focus our public outreach. We absolutely love featuring our community through those platforms, especially for presentations and happening outside of the studio. If you have something you’d like us to promote, either to tap into Onassis ONX’s audience for your events or for elevating your achievements, please reach out to the Innovation Director and the Program Director.

Reporting

As part of our community, and as part of our reporting structure to Onassis Stegi, we require artists to send us updates on their projects and careers. This manifests in two ways:

These project updates are an important window into fantastic work emerging from our community. They also help us expand our reach within the industry, as the more projects we have available to us, the more projects we can place at other institutions. Requests for these updates will be sent out via email.
