The space includes 3 projectors that project onto each of the three walls seamlessly. For specs, see: 7K Projector

The walls are approximately 10 feet high, and 20 feet wide, making each projection surface a 2:1 aspect ratio. A little more space can be found at the very top of the walls if you are willing to cut into the pipes and speakers that are along the top edges of the walls.

Media is mapped in the Projection Room through TouchDesigner. Saved to the desktop of the Projection Room PC is a folder titled “TD_Templates.” These files allow for plug-and-play use, regardless of your prior TD experience. It is highly recommended that you use the PC provided rather than configuring a personal laptop in the space.

There are three basic templates: one for repeating a single media file across all three walls (“Single_Image_Template”),

one for extending a single media file across all three walls (“Continuous_Image_Template”),

and one for playing three different media files on each wall (“Three_Image_Template”).

Open the template file that best supports your project to input your media files. Please bring your media on an external hard drive (formatted for Windows). ONX has thumb drives available for loan. Plug in your drive directly into the Projection Room PC to access the files through TD. Be sure to plug in your drive and turn on the projectors before opening TouchDesigner, or else the software will be unable to read the files/displays.

The template will provide step-by-step instructions to import your media. To launch the projectors, press 1 on the keyboard provided. To close, press 0.

If you are having issues with lagging frame rates as your network cooks, move your media files from your drive and onto the PC directly, clearly labeled with your name. You can then go back into your MovieFileIn TOPs to re-route the file path locally.

If you would like to save your file at the end of your session, please “Save As” and label it with your name. When reopening your file, please note that if your file paths have changed you will have to re-input your media.

Onassis ONX owns an Educational TouchDesigner License. The optimal resolution for a single wall in the projection room is 1920 x 1080. If you are copying your .toe file onto a drive for use on another computer, please be aware that non-commercial TD licenses have a limited media resolution of 1280 x 1280. If you need assistance scaling your project for other licenses or spaces, please reach out to ONX staff.

If you are unfamiliar with TouchDesigner and your project has additional elements, such as a live feed, additional projector, etc., please reach out to ONX staff for set-up assistance.
